THE EXACERBATING DIVISION AMONG HUMAN BEINGS

The Earth is inhabitant by 7.5+ billion people. All of these people belong to the same species; Homo sapiens. Every species that desires to thrive and flourish needs one aspect to agree upon, coordination. Homo Sapiens despite being the most intelligent and dominant species on the planet still require to nourish this basic element. Thus it seems as time passes by, we are losing our ability to co-operate with each other and understand our fellow beings. This lack of communication and understanding is creating a barrier between us in discrete forms. We need to acknowledge the parts where we are declining and improvise ourselves in those areas.

Humans have a long history of differentiation based on several aspects. We have fought wars, conduct disputes, and done arguments over discriminative issues. One would assume that ancient humans might not have similar ethical and moral rules and regulations and means of their implementation to be the reason for such conflicts, but, technology and modernization in no way have diminished it instead, fueling it. Our era has only expanded the ways we can have a confrontation with each other over minute subjects.

The sticky wicket causing these disputes and conflicts to grow is social media. Our connection on a larger scale has escalated our differences too. Government officials now battle in a war of words on these channels. Grave problems are tweeted, reported and, condemned. Celebrities around the world enjoy the privilege of a die-hard fanbase that’ll defend their action to any limit. Social media posts and comments are overloaded with hateful speeches and arguments. One can easily see discrimination over opinions and people having a dispute over it. A war of egos is ample and logical arguments seem scarce.

Social media was invented so human beings can be connected virtually and the distances among us can be narrowed but sadly we have turned these mediums of interrelation into mediums of the contest. The most prominent example of this grave yet underwhelming problem is seen during the Covid-19 Pandemic. It has become crystal clear how a pandemic can cause a range of disputes across the globe. Those who believed it to be a viral disease utilized precautionary measures and those who believed it to be a biological weapon by the highest governments denied following the SOP. A group that encouraged people to get vaccines and a group against the administration of vaccines. A hundred hypotheses and conspiracy theories were put forward causing a global division of groups and starting a wave of bewilderment and skepticism.

All these instances prove that how vulnerable the human species is to doubt and hesitancy. One will only believe what he is taught and what he supposes and that puts most of the blame on the people of his surrounding i.e. the community he lives in. Certain aspects such as religion, nationality, race, color, class, and difference in opinion are causing worldwide conflicts. And as the technology grows and as we communicate far more efficiently this issue will only grow further. We as humans are enthusiastic to grow in technology but lethargic in improving our moral and ethical behavior.

It is significant to teach the lessons of empathy, mannerism, and appreciation to get our species back on track to the best possible extent. The only probable solution is to teach the upcoming generation the right set of etiquettes individually or en masse. It is unimaginable to ameliorate every person specifically one who has developed a mindset of his own but rather easy to develop a better mindset of the young generation based on respect. The key to yielding fruitful results lies in the teachings that we ponder through our words and actions. A positive character will shape a positive generation and vice versa for negativity too.

The one who understands the repercussions of these ongoing circumstances will surely understand the concern that I share and comprehend for a better future. A better future for our species rests in the hands of the member of these same species. We can collectively build a prosperous and united future or satisfy our self-esteem and neglect the importance and respect of other individuals.
